Veterans

Working with veterans is an honor and a privilege. At Angel Reins, we have
tremendous respect for our vets and the sacrifices these brave men and women have
made in service to our country. Many return from service suffering from: PTSD,
flashbacks and unwanted memories, anxiety, depression, self-isolation and
negative emotions.

Our customized programs help them to process, reintegrate, heal and connect with
other veterans.

  • peaceful, country setting
  • non-judgmental approach to wellbeing
  • grounding therapies
  • hands-on activities
  • amazing, intuitive horses

Rescue horses and veterans share an unspoken understanding of both visible and
invisible scars. This understanding builds trust and forms a common bond. Angel
Reins’ horses innately understand what veterans need. They connect in ways people
can’t. They help vets to let go of “fight or flight” responses and to be in the present
moment. Horses heal humans.

“Angel Reins literally saved my life.” -JS, Combat Vet

Survivors

of human trafficking

Learning to trust again, setting boundaries and regulating emotions are just a few of the positive outcomes we have seen with the survivors we have had the privilege of serving at Angel Reins Stable.

Working with the horses in our safe and supportive environment empowers survivors to feel a sense of control over their own lives and decisions again. In addition to time with the horses, we offer our Pegasus Program, a 10-week therapy program unique to Angel Reins Stable. Many survivors credit the Pegasus Program with helping them experience genuine healing.

After spending time with the horses, survivors develop trust and create a connections.  It is often the beginning of their healing journey.  Working with and caring for these large animals allows survivors to feel a sense of control over their own lives and decisions again. They’re able to take that confidence into the rest of their lives and relationships.

Our equine assisted programs are not just about addressing current mental health concerns—but about creating meaningful, long-lasting change, and improving quality of life.

“If there is a door for grace, it is this place.” -KW, Survivor

First

Responders

Secondary trauma is the emotional duress that results from indirect exposure to trauma. It’s common in healthcare workers, social workers and first responders—people who are exposed to graphic details or the aftermath of traumatic events. These are the people who help others in traumatic situations, often taking home the aftermath of what they’ve witnessed or heard.

So…who helps the helpers in Central MN?

We do! Angel Reins Stable helps the helpers. We’ve developed a program called ER&R, which stands for Equine Rest and Relaxation. We provide a peaceful afternoon at the stable with their peers—to just breathe and reset in a safe, beautiful and calming environment. It includes good coffee, good conversation, good food and we think some pretty amazing horses.

“A huge thank you to Angel Reins for blessing us with the gift of friendship, support and serenity. It's a gorgeous place with the most special people and connections!” - KD, sheriff’s department
